Opens Applications for the AI Filmmaking Lab

November 17, 2025

We are launching a new laboratory where we will explore how artificial intelligence can become a practical tool for directors. Today, AI offers a way to bring big ideas to life even when budgets and resources are limited. And you can use it!

What awaits participants?

Application selection:
We ask you to submit one short application with a motivation letter describing your experience in film and short film proposal for a project (up to 5 minutes).
After reviewing all submissions, we will create a shortlist of 10 participants.

Script stage:
These ten shortlisted authors will write the scripts for their films.
From these, five final participants will be selected for the laboratory

The 5 selected participants will receive:

  • training in AI tools that help create cinematic images and scenes;
  • access to paid licences;
  • support from director Uladzimir Kazlou and BFN experts;
  • the opportunity to create their own short film using AI.

Who is the lab for?

Primarily for directors who are looking for new ways to realise their ideas.
Here, AI is viewed not as a toy or a visual trick, but as a new language – one that helps express ambitious concepts even with minimal budgets.

How to apply?
